Agua de luna (psalms for the rouge) traces the personal lives of three couples as they intersect with a 108-year-old woman named Teresa de Los Angeles. Written in close-up snapshots of the ache, hunger, compassion, missed connections and hope amongst this community of individuals, it is a story of those often “left behind” wanting the possibility of a better life. Inspired by the spirit of southwest Detroit, the play evokes the everyday passions and desires of a varied group of characters as they search for a bit of magic to keep them going in this complicated world.
Agua de luna (psalms for the rouge) was originally commissioned and produced by Matrix Theatre Company in Detroit, Michigan under the direction of Sherrine Azab. Premiere: February 26-March 20, 2016.
