Based on the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Full-length. Cast: 2 women, 2 men. All in their 30s-early 40s. Fluid open space. Running time: 110 minutes.

A lyrical, imagistic play that focuses on an extraordinary love story between a poetically-inclined man named Florentino Ariza and a sensual, practical yet somewhat elusive woman named Fermina Daza. Spanning fifty years of time, the story plays out in a series of short scenic episodes filled with poetry, song, movement and heightened moments of theatricality. A daring four-actor tour-de-force piece for the theatre.

Script History: This play was commissioned by Repertorio Espanol in New York City. It is scheduled to premiere in the author’s Spanish-language version in October 2012 at Repertorio Espanol under the direction of Jose Zayas with a sound-scape by Jane Shaw.

The author’s English-language version of the play has yet to receive a premiere.
